Here’s what our guest say about Billabong Gardens…
Stayed in a dorm, parents stayed in a private for a week.
My experience: aside from the odd messy roommate or two, my dorm had the necessities. Mildly surprised to find an individual bedside lamp and powerpoint.
Kitchen’s handy – especially given my Mum managed to do some baking during our stay!
Can’t be bothered typing about my parents’ stay but they’ve stayed with Billabong twice since our first stay – saves money, social environment and they can cook their own meals if needed…but Newtown’s a glutton’s dream anyway. 🙂
I stayed here during late October with two of my friends and it was fantastic! We stayed in the terrace next door and you can’t beat the location and the awesome value for money. Not to mention it didn’t feel like a hotel, it felt like home 🙂 I will be returning and I recommend it for anyone looking for a good location at a cheap price!
I visit Sydney for business every 3 or 4 months and found this place good value. You want a cheap motel room with own bathroom that’s clean and in a good locale? I go out all day for work, come back have a shower and walk a few minutes to a choice of great cheap restaurants. Good nite’s sleep and do it all again.
Make sure you book a car space. – cheap at $5 per day
Billabong Gardens is just the right mix of friendly-laid back backpacker hostel / clean, efficient budget hotel. If you want to you can meet other travellers, cook in the communal kitchen and watch tv in their hang out room – or you can buzz about Sydney and do your own thing. My friends and were super pleased with this place and it was really cheap too!
This lovely hostel located in the bustling suburb of Newtown was a pleasant surprise. A light and open feel with well behaved travellers staying made it a comfortable week here. The rooms were clean, new towels given and attended to daily. Lovely hot showers. Friendly managers. I was sorry the weather wasn’t warm enough to trial the pool!
The hostel provided everything i needed. I stayed for 2 nights on arrival to Australia. It was great for transport all around Sydney and I’m very pleased I stayed in Newtown.. its quirky cafes and shops are unique and interesting.
I found the staff helpful, they advised me on transport around town and over Australia but otherwise I did not require anything from them.
I was in a 6 bed female dorm and 3 of the girls were long term (around 6 and 3 months living at Billabong). People were mostly friendly around the hostel. Kitchen is big and seems well equipped.
Enjoyed my stay and served exactly what I wanted. Would recommend
We’ve stayed here several times over the last couple of years. We moved to the Blue Mountains but regularly need to stay overnight in Sydney. Billabong Gardens is located in a quiet side street in Newtown. Very convenient, close to the city and in a great area with lots of food options on KIng Street. Parking is inside the building in the garage. It must be booked, so don’t forget when making a reservation. The room rates are very reasonable and parking is incredibly cheap compared to other hotels in the city. The rooms are always clean and staff are very friendly. The motel style rooms in the main building have their own bathroom and the rooms in the terrace house next door are with communal bath. We stayed in both and think they are great value for money. Don’t expect a formal business hotel, it’s more like a guesthouse. A few times they were booked out and we stayed elsewhere. Each time we thought we paid much more for much less. 100% thumbs up for this one!
